Drafting Ryan Leonard, David Reinbacher, Tom Willander & Brayden Yager in the 1st round would be pretty decent.

Ceci in that deal yes please.
Carter and Granlund in that deal sure.
Trading Maatta right after signing him to an extension would be really low. I would take Brodie if he was dirt cheap, retain half and find a new home for him.
Now that OEL contract, yuck. Thats going to hurt us when we are trying to contend in 3 years. I would stay far away.

Canucks aren’t trading 11 if they have to take Chiarot back

Ceci can grab a late round pick from a team needing RD depth. He isn't a dump (not a super great asset either but not worth a 2nd to dump by any means)

would much rather buy out Granlund and bury Carter on the 4th line/ Press box if that's the price

Yeah the OEL deal was a tough pill to swallow but if doing that got us Willander or Reinbacher, I’d probably do it. I actually still think OEL can play at a solid level but, yeah, $3m more than Chiarot and an extra year would certainly be an issue. I suppose once that time comes, buying him out could be an option with 1-2 years left on the deal.

Still saving $22m in the deal, including $9m this year and a clean slate in 3 years as opposed to 4.

Of all the trades I thought the Pens one was a little iffy. I wouldn’t be opposed to adding a solid piece in return to PIT like maybe Joe Veleno or someone like that, maybe Filip Zadina. I just felt like with the Letang, Crosby & Malkin core getting to the end, they’d feel the pressure to free up $8-$9m to make some moves to try and gain maximum flexibility to field the best possible team for the next 2 years.

The thing is chances are Carter isn't waiving his NMC to go anywhere so we are stuck with him (Thanks Hextall) and Granlunds buyout ain't bad at all. With a Granlund buy out, we have about 24 mil to improve the team which isn't bad at all.

I think the Canucks should only use 11 to dump OEL if we don’t get any bad money coming back. You could take Myers out of the deal as well if you’d like, but taking back Chiarot shouldn’t be an option for the Canucks imo

We know they aren't going to spend money and be bad no matter how many picks they get for it

Haha, I actually named it after the Soulja boy song “donk” cuz I thought he said dump, but he actually says donk 😂 haven’t heard the song in years, but the Sisqo verse works too lol
