Agreed. I meant to mention in my other reply that from a value perspective it's probably not outrageous, but there's really no reason for the Ducks to move down. Verbeek has shown that he's extremely conservative, so he'll inevitably take the player he wants and live with it.

Ducks decline .. they want another Getzlaf type player and Fantilli checks that box.

Ducks would probably want Dach involved in a trade like this. But either way I doubt the ducks will trade #2. They'll take the safe route and pick Fantilli

Problem is there is such a talent gap between Fantilli and whom ever is picked at 5 overall (Michkov not included). The package would probably take MTL 1st 2023 (5th overall), FLO 1st 2023 (31st overall), MTL 1st 2024 (unprotected) + Prospect (Beck or equivalent), which is a lot for MTL to give up.

make that 24 a 25 1st unprotected and i'd be more inclined to do it, even add a 2nd or 3rd i'd still do it.
