Keller
Cooley

It's a lot to give up by the Caps but this is a trade that helps them now and in the future. Imagine in 2-3 years having some combination of Michkov, Cooley, MIroshnichenko, Keller, Strome, Protas, Suzdalev, McMichael, Lapierre in your top 6. Nasty. At that point they'd just need to get a #1 D and there won't be a rebuild.

ARI in the meantime gives them a ton of ammunition to the plethora they already have so when they move into their new city they can spend it all on talent to instantly be great.

I think that's an overpay by Washington. ARZ should accept. This would be really bad long-term for Washington. Cooley looks good, but the team as a whole is in rough shape.

It is an overpay by WASH, but still if AZ does fold the team. This sets back the rebuild years and years and I imagine every other player demands trade.
Honestly with WASH current team I dont see this helping enough - Keller fine plug in right away, cooley still a bit away and the 6OA is few years away, and with WASH age. they wont have high picks for years to fill out complete team.

Teams moving towards a rebuild shouldn't trade 1sts more than a year down the road.

As a caps fan, no firsts for the next 3 years would hurt, butttttttt I would still most likely say do it. Keller and Cooley are worth 4 firsts together in my opinion, then you get Michkov who is projected to be a stud for 4 seconds and a couple thirds. Might be an overpay but you get extremely high end young players.

It's an overpay but I'd still do it. Keller and Cooley change the direction of the franchise.

Do I think it could be done with one fewer 1st round pick? Yeah. Would I be made if the Caps did this? Not particularly. Picks are all gambles. Getting a real player like Keller is worth some gambling.

Avs will need retention on Kuzy, so the plan falls down there, 'cos you don't have enough cap space.

First off, I'm glad you all think it's an overpay, that's a good sign on this site lol

But I also don't think you all realize what this would do to the Caps. If they do this trade there's no rebuild happening for another 15-20 years. In 4 years this team looks like:

Keller-Cooley-Michkov
Miroschnenchko-Strome-Suzdalev
McMichael-Lapierre-Protas

Sandin-Iorio
Fehervary-Chesley

Along with some other good youth like Alexeyev, Trineyev, Hofer, etc. I'm not saying it's perfect, they would still need a #1D but they will have a slew of cap space with Ovi, Backy, Oshie, Carly, Kuz all gone. And the next 2-4 years Ekblad, Theodore, Chychurn, Makar, Hughes are all defensive free agents.
