A career AHLer for an NHL defenseman? Sounds fair

Undersized offensive left shot d for one of the two right shot d in the organization. It makes even less sense if you look at how desperate we are to add size, defensive ability, and grit to our d. It would just be another guy to fight with stillman, ryan johnson. and Bryson as our 6th d- at least until we trade for something better.

So why do the Canes make that trade? They need LD not RD, and Myers really doesn’t do anything for the Canes that isn’t already done by Chatfield.

Rathbone's value isn't on the same planet as Jokiharju's.
That's straight up garbage.

Agree on the grit and defensive ability, the size thing is very overblown though. Bryson is the only one who is small.

NHL
Power - 6'6"
Samuelsson - 6'4"
Dahlin - 6'3"
Boosh - 6'2"
Stillman - 6'1"
Joker - 6'0"
Clague - 6'0"
Bryson - 5'9"

Prospects
Johnson - 6'0"
Lindgren - 6'0"
Novikov - 6'4"
Komarov - 6'2"

I know, I know. I exaggerate. Although I wonder if jokiharju had a few pairs of thick socks on. I think I push for this because A) I don't want power and dahlin to have to be the muscle, and B) it's frequently in response to somebody offering an undersized offensive d, which doesn't make any sense for us. I agree, strictly speaking, the Sabres d isn't small.

I think the issue at least in regards to grit is that they have it between Samuelsson and Dahlin on the 1st pairing, and when they dress Stillman and Boosh they have it on the 3rd pairing. That leaves a 2nd pairing that plays very passively, and neither Power or Joker are good at clearing the crease. Give Power a more physical partner and I think that balances things out a bit better. Also when guys get banged up none of Clague, Bryson, or Pilut were very physical.
