Yikes, Oilers need to lose cap, not to take on long term cap. Krug...no team wants that contract.

Krug was arguably the single worst Dman in the entire NHL last year. Krug had an Ozone Start percentage of 79.2% and STILL was a minus 26. No one had the ice flipped on them more than Krug. It's more like how many of those 1sts are you willing to lose for another team to take one of the worst contracts in hockey.

But the other trade is just as bad for STL. You're way over valuing Ceci/Yamamoto. This post is all over the place.

The proposal is so bad the Hawks might be stunned hearing it and not hangup immediately being confused that another team would make an offer this bad. Krug has not played more than 64 games in like 5 seasons. Undersized, oft injured, over paid (for 4 more years), wrong side of 30, is not the stuff rebuilding teams pay draft picks for...they take those kind of players WITH draft picks attached to them. You literally could retain half Krug's salary and the Hawks are not paying a 2nd and 3rd for him.

The proposal is so bad it’s funny. Op would need to add multiple picks and take future considerations back.

Better give Lou a call on the Island because the Hawks obviously decline.

See, this is the type of wanton hyperbole that becomes accepted as fact if people repeat it enough. Claiming he was the worst D in the league is beyond ludicrous, even as crap a year as he had relative to his norm. And I'm not just saying that because 17 (!) of his minuses came on ENGs. Just from the competition standpoint alone, he was nowhere near the worst D. Then you add on his PP1 work (which again was down from norm, but still valuable). I mean, cmon.

Fair on the ENG. I didnt know that and it does seem excessive. Do you have the number STL scored while he was on the ice?

The PP is transforming across the NHL. I honestly don't care what he does on the PP. ELCs can run a PP. The offensive only defenseman is the single most overrated player in the NHL. Barrie, Ghost, Erik Gustafsson, etc... list goes on.

Krug is getting paid...$8.5M this year AND next year. Come on, that's worse than bad.

They scored four while he was on the ice. Leading the league in ENGs against did a +/- number on the guys who are normally out there in that situation.

Not everyone can run a PP, man.

Him getting 8.5M in real cash is bad, no doubt. Not sure what that has to do with him being supposedly the single worst D in the league last season, which was the only thing I was contending. There's zero chance the trade on this AGM happens, and not just because those two teams don't trade.

You need some context here. Look at how many of the minus were with the goalie pulled.

That being said, Krug was heavily sheltered, he was also hurt most of the season.

I don't think that the Blues will be able to trade him this offseason, and frankly if the Blues didn't have Perunovich needing NHL ice time I could see alot of reason to not even consider moving him. He runs the PP very well and produces offense, however, he's a bit below average of a defender, and the Blues have too many issues to spend that type of money on a ppqb atm.

I brought up the contract because it all goes into a trade..to which this post is theorizing. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. PP Dmen are very easy to find IMO. You're comment is true that not everyone can run a PP...defensive Dmen can't, but my comment that they're very easy to find on ELCs or as cap dumps or as waiver claims is also true. Barrie was a much better player than Krug last year and he was a simple cap dump in order to get Ekholm. Valimaki was a waiver claim and still every bit the equal to Krug on the PP. Boqvist is another PP QB battling through injury and still played the PP as good as Krug. Calen Addison, Erik Gustafsson, Anthony Deangelo, Ghost. My point is, if you want a PP QB...ok no worries. They're are plenty of capable PP QBs out there that won't cost you $6.5M in cap space and $8.5M in cash.

With that said, I hope for your sake he turns things around.

I'd prefer to move him, and that's going to be tricky with only a limited amount of places he'd waive for. And yeah, history dictates he'll bounce back to some extent. I'm fine with him bouncing back in Pittsburgh or something. But again, I was only talking about the worst in the league thing. The trade is not even worth pondering.
