I realize it's a late 5th and all but that trade doesn't make sense for the Flyers. They will probably be able to trade Seeler at the deadline for a 3rd or 4th round pick. They need that pick and the 2024 5th a lot more than they need a 24 year old goalie who doesn't even play all that well in the AHL. Even IF they trade Hart, UPL would still be behind Ersson, Sandstrom and probably Kosolov as well in their system.

I believe that UPL is better that both Sandstrom and Ersson but its hard to evaluate really. He could become a steal.

If Pesce is signing 5.5Mx6, he wouldn't be dealt by Carolina. Expect 6.5M+x8 to be his demand.

Are sabres fans under the impression that the Flyers really want UPL? First he’s apart of every Hart trade package and now they’re trying to just give him to us

He has a reputation of being a great defensive dman but imo you don't want to pay defensive guys too much, but maybe the price of defenders is going up with the impending cap increase. I think it's worth it for Buffalo if they can afford him at 6-6.5M after Dahlin and Power's extensions (saw some random rumor site speculate that Dahlin could get 10Mx8, guessing Power comes in at 7mx8 if they don't bridge him). He would be a great mentor for Power. If Pesce wants 7mx7 though I think Buffalo should look elsewhere.

Why do you think the Canes are positioning a trade? The are probably offering 5.5m and will let other teams do the negotiating for them. If you want to step up and offer good assets and $7m extension, Canes will take it.

I just don’t see a trade between the Canes and Sabres that makes sense for both sides
