Vegas goes crazy

Created by: Ploppz
Team: 2023-24 Vegas Golden Knights
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 17, 2023
Published: Jun. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is NOT a prediction, but just something that would be a very Vegas thing to do and it would be quite funny and chaotic 😎

Brayden Pachal is 6"2 and 203 lbs so he fits the mold perfectly in Vegas to step in after Martinez's departure 😉

And I obviously didn't spend any time predicting exact length of terms except for on Cat or any precise salaries for the AHL players

  1. DeBrincat, Alex [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Debrincat does not seem to want to stay anywhere in Canada so the Sens will have to sign and trade him i think, which is sad because i'm a big Sens fan. We gave up 2 firsts for him , so a package like this would be good enough i think.
OTT
  1. Brisson, Brendan
  2. 2023 1st round pick (VGK)

BUF
  1. Kolesar, Keegan
  2. Martinez, Alec
Additional Details:
We'll package Kolesar with Martinez who could give your team more grit and your defense some experience and be a mentor for the young guns.

Just give us a fifth back, i hear mid round picks are good for trading for SC winning goalies ;)

I believe the Sabres would absolutely do this deal. Kolesar is exactly what that team needs.

That offer doesn't come close to getting Alex DeBrincat, Nor does Vegas have anywhere near $9,000,000 per to pay him.

It does come close but maybe you'll be able to cope with it when Cat is actually traded for something similar 🙃 Idk what you expect us to get back when we paid 2 firsts and he just had a down year with plenty of rumors going around saying he wants out of Canada lmao. You think we getting Saros or Hellebyuck, as if we're not gonna be on their No-trade teams lists? Get real 😂

And as you can see, this team is very much cap compliant with 200K to spare even 😉

Technically a 21 man roster isn't cap compliant, And you're just basing that you can unload on Martinez just like that. Plus i bet that Adin Hill gets more than a 1 x $3,600,000 offer.

Here's a simpler counterproposal: Vegas can have Eichel's former running mate in Olofsson at 50% retained for Korczak and a 3rd.

A 1st + a good prospect isn't even coming close lol? Did DeBrincat score 50 this year?

They gotta get him to want to sign and stay first man. That's the basis of this whole hypothetical 😂

And i can see you are yet another fellow Sens fan who thinks we're gonna get more than we gave for him lmao.

If you had read the description, I did say I didn't bother putting any accurate terms on the contracts. 🤷🏽‍♂️

And 21 players is absolutely cap compliant brother. 2G + 6D +12F = 20, that's well enough. Teams do emergency loans every single day during injuries in the season. Look it up ✌🏼

I'd be very shocked if Hill gets more than 3.8 mil, which this cap allows.

And lastly, i don't doubt for a second that Buffalo would say yes to my offer, and you can see in the other comments that the Buffalo fans agrees with me, so yeah 🤷🏽‍♂️

Cat has no choice but to sign a 1 year deal until he hits UFA

also

When trade for Cat happened : EVERYONE OMG OTT fleeced CHI
Now : Ott is not going to get back what they trade for him or more

which one is it, did OTT fleece CHI or did they pay fair value for Cat it cannot be both

A 1st + a good prospect could be a good offer... but in this case it's 32nd OA so basically a 2nd and another late 1st in 2020 whose stock hasn't rose at all since... probably another 2nd

It was a 7th OA pick, a 37th OA pick and another 3rd round pick

There's a gigantic difference between 7th and 32nd OA

When he goes from 41 goals to 27 and 60 points the next year, yeah, he's not going to have the same value. GM's are going to use that to their advantage. Ottawa fans are crazy.

one year does not make a player, he shot almost 5% below his career average, his value has not changed and most NHL players would gladly take a "down" year of 27 goals and 66 points, hell many NHLers cannot even score 27 goals 66 points

Remember when Arizona wanted two firsts+ for Chychrun but everyone waited them out?

Debrincat isn't netting the same return. Step out of the red tinted glass box and realize that.

ROFL clearly you do not listen too or read hockey news/blogs, ARI took less because they did not want to 1. retain on Chych and 2. take back any salary in the trade and OTT was the only team to fulfill those conditions.

You getting all your news from half baked hockey articles tells me all I need to know.
You also used to parrot that "Ottawa would never trade their 2023 first"... but here we are.

Teams waited out Chych because the asking price was abysmal. Two firsts+? Chych's contract was super affordable, 4.6 didn't need retention.

Debrincat isn't getting the same value he had after coming off a 41 goal season dropping to 27 and being a defensive pylon That's just how it works. Stop being a massive homer for once.

Lmao i dare you to find where i said Ottawa fleeced Chicago. And even if i did, the point still stands. We're just not gonna get the same value back that we gave for him. He didn't break 30 goals or 40 assists, it's public knowledge by now that he wants to go to the US and he could very well pull a PLD, and he's also an RFA meaning there's no security in trading for him unless there's a sign and trade, which is most likely what's going to happen. The faster we accept that we're not gonna get a king's ransom, or even the same value we gave up, for someone who wants 9+ mil after a 27-goal season, the better.

He was only a proven 40-goal scorer whilst playing with arguably the greatest American-born player ever, Patty Kane.

You can just scroll in these comments to find at least 2 people who think so based on their reactions. There are plenty more of them on Reddit / Discord and i could certainly find more of them on here if you give me 5 minutes lol.
"Nobody expects to get more than what the Sens paid to get DeBrincat" is an equally courageous statement as it is untrue and unresearched.

Well, "MoSeider53" is NOT a Sens fan... sometimes it's useful to open these profile pages. Athrin is certainly exaggerating when saying "crap offer" but that doesn't mean he expects more than what was paid. He made a good point on post #11 too. It's true that everybody (non-Sens fans) thought Chicago was fleeced when the trade happened. I was a bit more neutral because that's not what I wanted my GM to do.

I would have liked to see a trade for a Top-4 RHD before the season, extend Nick Paul, then extend Connor Brown and don't make that awful Gustavsson for Talbot trade. But I have been against most Dorion decisions for years so what can I do?

Well, no need to get emo about it, but you left out a VERY important part in what you quoted :

"I can't say for certain as I don't see every single Sens fans post but from what I have seen"

It means that from what I have seen (mainly on another hockey forum), I haven't many if any expecting to get a better return than what was paid.

If you can find, let me know. And yeah I don't read Twitter, Reddit or Discord (don't know anything about this one)
