No chance Hawks are paying even one 3rd for Garland. Toronto declines and Oilers probably do to.

VAN Trade: Pretty lateral move but gives us a bigger more physical D-man and takes up more cap space. Wouldn't exactly mind it, especially if they aren't bringing Mitchell back and don't plan on having Regula in the NHL. But CHI doesn't really have a need to move Zaitsev. So, balancing a trade with him seems counterproductive for them.

EDM Trade: Seems counterproductive for them to pay to move Foegele but then take back half his salary in Blackwell, unless they actually like Blackwell. I'm pretty sure he could be had for free by anyone who wants him. Blackwell is a good dude, great in the locker room, not much going on on the ice, though. EDM probably doesn't want him though.

TOR Trade: CHI accepts. And I honestly don't want anything to do with Murray otherwise. At best, TOR could maybe get back the NYR's 2nd, but even that is a long shot, IMHO.

VAN trade (Garland): CHI isn't likely to pay for Garland, and if they did, it wouldn't be that much. Not even sure I'd pay a single 3rd, let alone two of them.

With Garland, if he was under 4 mil, he'd fetch a lot more. But he's almost $5 million resulting in the discount.

Have you seen Myers play? I find it hard to envision him protecting anyone. As far as big hits, ask a Sabres fan how that idea worked out for them. I’m not a particular fan of Ziatzsev either & would rather have 1 of the 5 kids from Rockford waiting patiently for their chance then either those 2.

as far as murray goes here it is. LTIR costs us nothing. a buy costs 50% of his salary and no picks, players or prospects. so unless your gonna take the whole contact for futures or a seventh. He can rot on that island with lupal & robida.
