Ullmark, besides this year, has been a slightly above average goalie.
Even this year deserves an asterisk as he was put in a position where a rock could've been a top 10 goalie; he was on one of the best teams in league history with a backup who'd be able to be a starter for several playoff teams.
Hellebuyck has consistently been a top 5 goalie for several years.

Cap restrictions/ goalies are voodoo. Ulmark doesn't have the "perennial vezina" tag like Hellebyuck has yet. There's only a handful of guys that are in that category everyone else plays musical chairs.

Swayman in Boston has shown a crazy amount of promise. They are tight on cap and having 2 potential starting goalies is redundant. Swayman is younger, so Ullmark is the most logical move. It could be Swayman though.

So 2 starting goalies + cap.

As for why it's cheap, goalies rarely have super high trading value. People are offering way more on this site for Hart than I think he will be sold for. Time will tell.

Ullmark for a 2nd and another pick or B prospect seems possible to me.

To add to the cap issues, and that shedding that $5 mil with him is the *easy* thing to do, there's also the fact that he can block trades to 15 teams. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he moves, but if he does, I'd guess something closer to the Freddie Andersen trade (Reasonable comp? 30th OA+50thOA?) than some of these *much* lower moves.

I would love Ullmark, but to get him we'd need to pay Durzi + 2nd and then immediately figure out how to move $4M in cap space, then sign Vilardi.

Or we could just move Arvidsson and go after Adin Hill or Freddie Andersen, both have more experience with the Pacific and wouldn't require moving assets to obtain. And that is assuming Ullmark even has LA on his trade list.

A slightly above average goalie who before being traded to Boston, never eclipsed a tandem goalie role.
Hellebuyck is a bonafide starter.
