I don't think the Leafs should make any of these trades.
Pesce is still a solid top-4 defenceman, no doubt. However, he's consistently gotten worse the past couple seasons. And whether that's due to age, injury, or even a fluke, he's due for a massive extension that will take him into his mid-to-late 30s. On top of that, we would have to give up substantial assets to acquire him. It just isn't very efficient or wise. In this specific trade, you're giving away a guy in Lilly that is just entering his prime and projects to be a solid two-way top-4 d. His cap hit at 1.4 million this season will arguably make him just as valuable as Pesce would be to the team this season. Beyond that, Lilly will also be extended to a much more reasonable price and also for his best years as a player (as opposed to Pesce's worst years).
Any Leafs ACGM that moves TJ Brodie is simply laughable at this point. I simply cannot wrap my head around it. He's literally been our BEST defenceman the past 3 years. No debate. And I keep seeing him traded for scraps, it's crazy. Olofsson isn't the type of forward we need, not at that cap hit and not at the cost of our best defenceman. As a player Olofsson is fine, but he isn't much of a play driver. His underlings aren't very good and his defensive play is quite atrocious. He has a terrific shot, and that's pretty much it. He doesn't impact the game in any other way.
The last trade is the only one I'd potentially consider, but I'm certain CGY would reject. Trading Lindholm would create a massive hole. The only Nylander to CGY trade that might make sense for both teams is one where Hanifin and Mangiapane are the ones sent back.
