As a Hawks fan, I'll pass on that 1st and 3rd trade. I'd do the 2nd.

Hawks wouldn't target any of those UFA's. Hawks don't make the Vancouver or the CBJ trades either.

You forgot that they are also opening up $2.7m in cap space next season and $600k for the following two seasons plus get an upgrade on the backend.

wow a whole 600k, cant even sign 1 player with that. garland is a useful middle 6 winger and the canucks no longer have the same need to move cap after the OEL buyout. opened up his basically his whole 7.2 cap hit this year.

and definitely wouldnt call murphy and upgrade. a 30 year old with a career high of 19 points and never been on a winning team. if your going to say that garland at 4.9 is a cap dump for a 50 pt player (with no pp1 time, playing with sheldon dries as his most common centre 5v5), then murphy is too. Ethan Bear is only 25, been a great fit since the trade and played great with and without hughes, and already offers more than murphy who is one dimensional.

It makes no sense for the canucks to trade Bear 1 for 1 for murphy, let alone throw in a very useful middle 6 winger for nothing who we have no need to move, AND move down 8 spots in a stacked draft. and then the canucks have to add a 4th to seal the deal?? maybe benning trying to save his job but not any sane person
