The $2.5M dead cap this season (vs $833k) would be more obstructive than the $1.83M dead cap will be in years 3 & 4 when the cap is expected to resume growing next season. If they are able to find a buyer, I can’t see the Pens retaining more than $1M because of the ease of the buyout hit.
Not much. Pens likely don't want to retain $2.5M for 2 years. Could see Pens retain $1.25M for a late pick at most. And Avs/Pens would want to find a 3rd team to eat the other $1.25M.
