The Sabres had 15 Fs play for them last season, and the Fs were pretty healthy overall. Vegas for example had 20 Fs.

Plenty of room for Zemgus and plenty of room for someone if they are better than Zemgus. Just need to be better than Zemgus.

Whatever prospects you are referring to will get a chance.

(1)No one should just be handed a roster spot
(2)No one in ROC or elsewhere was as good as Quinn and JJP the year prior
(3)Being waiver-exempt is a nice way to have depth in the system.

Seems like Leadership and Loyalty are worth something in the Sabres organization. This contract is a reward that the Sabres can afford pay at this moment in time. He’s great in his role. I wanna see some AHL prospects too but this won’t block them.

He hans't been effective in any season his played in the NHL

2.5M is the going rate for a top-end 4C that is a defensive specialist and can play up the lineup a bit when in a pinch. Good deal that it's only 1 year so BUF isn't locked into anything.

The cap hit is not a problem for buffalo this year (next year with Dahlin and Power they need to be more carefull about the cap). 2.5 M for a LW (if Jost is in the lineup as 4C) is more an insurance to clear waivers if needed since most of the team do not have cap space for claiming a 4 line winger with 2.5 M cap hit.

He's very good defensively. Try actually watching him play.

It doesn't matter the length. It's mismanagement of the cap.
