MTL won't include Justin Barron / Joshua Roy / Owen Beck / Logan Mailloux in a Pier-Luc Dubois trade IMO
You are looking at prospect like Riley Kidney, Oliver Kapanen, Luke Tuch and picks

With this strategy (which I think is the right one even if I don't agree with the value in all your trades), the Jets should move Connor & Morrissey as well. They will bring franchise changing returns and cornerstones you can build on quickly.

I don't think Beck or Roy are untouchable. I think the RHDs are hard to move because we don't have many.

You’re not getting Jarvis in any trade with the Canes. It would be Morrow, Suzuki/Drury and a pick. I’m not sure Schieffele is a good match with canes style but I’d take a shot at it getting figured out once he was there.

I think they are in a PLD trade

Fully agree. But Chevy is on record stating they won't rebuild. So they are left with either letting players walk for nothing or getting back the best "hockey trade" that teams can muster. Often times, those are not good offers. Personally I hope these players end up walking away. Serves Chevy and their ownership right.

But why? Those are good prospects, but it's very unlikely either ever plays on a top line. With PLD you get a finished product and he's probably better today than either of those players will be in their careers.

We don't need to cap space of the entry level deals right now. I really don't get it.

I really want a Canadian team to win the cup. If the Oilers or Leafs don't do it next year... I guess it's gonna fall to my Habs to make it happen

It's not how it works, MTL have some leverage, we will make an offer, they either accept it or MTL waits for him in 2024 (if he ends up an UFA)
I really don't understand how you still don't get it

I understand your theory about how this works, but it's really not the case. PLD is not hanging his career hopes on Montreal making him a fair offer. THAT is not how it works.

His agent is one of the smartest and toughest in the business. He will make it very clear to him:

If you go to UFA next year, you will be the 10th-11th best player on the market. Teams will have tons of centers to choose from. There is practically zero chance you get the money you are asking for, especially from the teams you want to go to.

Counter offer from Washington:
WSH gets: Ehlers, 18th overall
WPG gets: Lapierre, 8th overall, 136th overall, 2025 second (COL)

OR

WSH gets: Ehlers
WPG gets: Lapierre, 2024 1st (Top 10 protected), 2024 3rd (MIN)

thoughts?

PLD wants to come to MTL and he wanna test the market in 2024. So he will have to choose to either sign under Suzuki's money or hope a team he wants to go to offers him 8M+

Wish these Scheif to canes trades would stop. Especially expecting Jarvis coming back.

It’s not a good fit and not a player they’d extend so unless the jets want to give him up on discount then there’s no deal to be made.

I'm just saying, if PLD is not a Hab in 2024 and there is an opportunity to sign Dubois for 7 x 9 or Aho for 7 x 10.5... cya Dubois!

Aho is staying in CAR, I don't think any teams offer PLD 9M, but I could see MTL giving him more money than Suzuki if he hits the market in 2024

Matthews, Aho, Lindholm, Stamkos, Nylander, Pettersson (OS or trade if he wants out), and a dozen others. There are some very big names hitting the market. Dubois will not be at the top of anybody's list.

I would not count on Aho hitting the market, they are working on extending him this summer.
