I would really hate to lose Carter Mazur, But unfortunately this is the kind of deal it would take to get Alex DeBrincat home without him reaching UFA status next summer.

Greg is an idiot and knows 0 about hockey. The article also says that "we would love to see" not what's fair. Wings aren't giving up mazur that's for sure

ESPN and hockey mixes worse than oil and water.
Same group that said Detroit was aiming for a playoff spot last season, and as such, had a disappointing season.
Also are extremely low on our prospects because they aren't one-way forwards who only know how to get points.

You don't know that for sure, Yzerman hinted that major changes are coming, And he did say it could be very painful. Meaning that it might take players that he doesn't want to normally deal to make trades happen.

Flip the 1st (and Lassi Thomson?) to Flyers for Scott Laughton and the 2nd to Calgary for Daniel Vladar, so it ends up DeBrincat and Thomson for Laughton, Vladar, Mazur and some cap space?

I do know that trading Mazur (a physical, point producing, middle-6 guy) to an already physically dominant team for a guy whose 5'9" is stupid considering how easily our team turtles when games get physical.

He never said that yesterday at all, he said he was building through the core and nucleus and that his picks and prospects are most likely not getting moved unless the deal makes sense. He specifically called out price to acquire a player as well as contract demands which ABD is 7/8 years at 8+ and he doesn't want to hand out these contracts. He loves mazur and this trade is pretty much not happening based on everything he said yesterday

Any trade proposal with one of our top prospects are moot.

At 32:23, Yzerman said "I'm going to trade one of our better prospects that fills both a physical demand and the goal-scoring demand so we can score some more goals. This plan only works if the other team doesn't throw a check"

Okay on what planet doesn't an Alex DeBrincat deal to Detroit not make sense? He's a local kid that has hinted of wanting to play for his childhood team. He'd be a long term asset not a short term asset. I agree i don't see Yzerman moving Mazur. But he did say he's willing to make moves now and then deal with the consequences later. That basically is telling me that he might have to move players that we don't want to see moved.

espn is horrible....

but Im just not sure theres a huge amount of bidders for Debrincat....Zadina and those picks is what I heard, but theres doesnl;t seem to be a huge amount of suitors for Ottawa to work with.

He said he's willing to make moves now, And deal with the consequences later. Basically half way through his presser. Meaning that he might have to make painful moves that the Wing fans won't like.

The player makes sense; the assets used to acquire said player don't.
A world where we're outscored 12-3 in a back-to-back because our team was scared to even touch the puck and then trading a promising prospect with a lot of physicality for some who's 5'9" is the world where a trade like this makes no sense. That just so happens to be the world we're living in!

In the world Yzerman would never ever offer up that kind of package for Alex DeBrincat, Frank Seravalli already said that Yzerman is offering up Filip Zadina and a few miniscule prospects at most.

Yeah so, per the leaks, why would he even entertain this horrendous proposal?

Frank Seravalli thinks a Debrincat trade will be centered around Zadina.

He doesn't want to pay the price nor give out the contract that he ABD wants is how I took it
