I don't think the Canes want Edmundson for free, much less giving up a young, good defensive dman that just had a breakout season.

Canes pass. It would take a lot to move him in general. He’s worth more to canes than to other teams in a trade with how he broke out last year and fits well in the system, plus he’s cost controlled for a while.

Eddy isn’t of interest to the canes even if he didn’t have back issues. Been there done that.

Allen is not worth a 2nd. Wings decline this, keep the asset, and sign a better goalie as a UFA.

Think I know where the extra value comes from; he was a Hab. The totally real Habs tax, where all players are worth double than what they are:
