I'm not fond of either trade, because I think keeping Nylander is still the best option

and I would hate to lose Holmberg, he is likely going to be a full time player this season and has shown great potential. Plus Voit has been looking quite good.

I hear your they can get more for these players at the deadline thing but Laughton and TK both have years left on their deals. They’re giving up two of their better assets that they aren’t shopping but are willing to listen on in this scenario. Every team would know that Willy isn’t going to stay in Philly so they’d have the edge in a trade. While they are getting the best player in the deal it just doesn’t make sense

I agree with your points, but I think it would be better for PHI to only have to go into the market once instead of going again at the TDL and having a smaller pool of teams that would be able to fit Brodie and Nylander. They'd also would most likely have to use one or two RS spots for them, when they also have other pending UFAs - DeAngelo, Walker, Seeler to move. Think it makes more sense for PHI to sell Laughton/TK now rather than push it down the road to the TDL

Only way I can see Nylander and Brodie to Philly is if they are part of a three-way deal and the Flyers retain a bit of cap to get better building blocks. Otherwise its a no-go.

Other part that never gets talked about is Philly is limited on how many they can retain on. And those spots are pretty much reserved for Hayes and TDA. So retaining in Nylander/Brodie would not be able to happen. So unless the overpays are huge, retention in most deals aren’t happening.

I don’t hate this idea for Philly but only if it is a three team trade and Nylander and Brodie are immediately traded elsewhere. Right now the Flyers have full leverage in trades with TK and Laughton because they have term whereas Brodie and Nylander wouldn’t be the case. If the Flyers could flip them to another team for immediate assets then it could work
