It would make sense if Vancouver trades Garland for Pierre Olivier Joseph.

Actually the Detroit trade is good and it benefits both teams a lot.

Since when is Garland worth a 3rd? Allvin has tried to give him away for free. With no takers. Need to add major sweeteners to take on that contract.

And Detroit gratefully accepts.

I think they might want a 1st instead of a 2nd or an additional 2nd ,depending on POJ's value. Although, I'm guessing here Reilly and Hall are being dealt for FC essentially and it's the 2nd+POJ for Swayman. So, probably depends on if the package deal is better than shipping them off elsewhere.

I do like the deal for both sides though if it allows Boston to retain Bertuzzi and Hathaway. Maybe Boston should deal Ullmark instead though.

Like all the moves for Pittsburgh except the Detroit trade waste of the 14th OV. Petry is still good, Compher is a luxury, they should be able to dump Granlund for cheaper elsewhere. Could maybe even do a Granlund for Garland swap.

So many people have unrealistic expectations about how bad Boston will get fleeced because of their cap crunch. Swayman is their goalie of the future, they are not tossing that kind of player out in a cap dump.

I actually like this scenario allot. Paying this years first is hefty but worth it if we can get two D signed like you listed. Hall is injury prone and that’s a concern. But I’d rather roll the dice like this and have wiggle room like you left than anything else. Albeit I’d rather see us use the 1st for Hanifin, I’d love us to get rid of 11M+ in Petry and Granlund. We could really rebuild a strong team

So what you’re saying is that for the expensive price of the 14th overall pick and POJ that we can just rearrange chairs on the titanic? That’s essentially what you’re doing exchanging Petry’s hefty 2 year contract with Hall’s equally hefty 2 year contract and exchanging Granlund’s hefty contract with Reilly’s. And putting Reilly as a top 4 d. If you thought the D was bad last year, this core would make anaheims D look like a bunch of Norris candidates.

Canucks have plenty of cap space. Other teams have no leverage anymore. Absolutely no reason to trade a very good winger on a reasonable contract away for free

No thanks. Reilly can be bought out for next to nothing. Hall has value and isn't a cap dump as well. I wouldn't trade Swayman by himself for that package. Even if you made the 2nd a 1st, still wouldn't do it.
