Montreal finally gets real

Created by: Azura0055

Description
Montreal finally realizes that a bag of pucks for a player they want ‘why pay anything, he’s free in 12 month’ isn’t going to cut it. They outbid LA.
Helly gives the Sabres the piece to get them into the playoffs. Levi becomes depth until he takes over from the master.

Schiefele goes to Boston for a goalie and cap relief.

26 gets to pick his team. Thank you for the memories on the ice, and contributions to the community off it.

Pionk fills the second pair top 4 D whole on Detroit for a reasonable cost.

Jets bring in size and veteran presence from the UFA market. ROR is a leader, a potential overpay for a mid-30s player, but the Jets need to fill in two C holes. Gudas is what Stanley will never be.

Raanta gives the Jets a 1A/1B to replace Helly.

The funniest part is that Dach probably has better hands.

The ability to stick handle alone on the ice is entertaining, but completely irrelevant in the playoffs.

90% of NHLers under 25 have great hands alone on the ice. How many pair it with size, strength, and decision making.

On track… maybe…. And I do think PLD has a higher ceiling if he ever figures out his compete issues.

If you think a player has the potential to become what another player already is, that implies risk he won’t. Therefore, to compensate for that risk, you would need to add additional assets as compensation.

If you still have compte issues at age 25 this is not something you can fix

Never said PLD didn't have IQ, actually I even agree with you, he does have good IQ. But my argument is basically that PLDs drive is too low for his offense production to rise, so I rather wait another year or 2 and see Dach become better than PLD, and for probably a cheaper price tag as well.

It is possible that PLD never learns how to compete night in, night out. But somebody is going to pay him 7+M to see if he can.

Dach improved a TON this past year, great growth. Does he have a higher ceiling than PLD, only if you assume PLD won’t play the way he already has for short stretches.

Both players aren’t 90+ Pt C, they are two-way, 60-80pt 1B types. PLD at his floor is a 65+ pt 2C, Dach needs to continue to improve to get there. Will he, probably, but not a guaranteed outcome. He’ll be more expensive than PLD if he reaches his potential, because he’ll sign a 7 year deal with a 90M+ cap, so 8-10 million won’t be unreasonable in 2-3 years time.

Discussion ends here: PLD is going to LA 90% sure. Your gonna get Villardi+ for him

You're making too much sense. Now ignore the hard cap. Then ignore the fact that PLD wants out and the trade still is trolling.

‘Trolling’ this entire site is a troll under a bridge. The reply comments are almost never constructive or insightful. Only biased and negative.

PLD for Dach and a REALLY LATE 1st could work… that would be an interesting discussion. But to call anything in this site a troll, is quite obvious.

That is the risk…. But if he shows up for 20 games in the playoffs… he’s the type of player to help lift trophies.

I didn’t realize ‘I’ was getting anything… I technically can’t get anything in return for PLD, he doesn’t work for me….but I’ll take Vilardi for my beer league team, I could use some skill to play with!

I wont disagree with you there. You need to take this place with a grain of salt. But you clearly have an axe to grind with Habs fans like many do here along with Leafs fans that are also easy targets with a big fan base

The risk is all with Mtl here. PLD is gone so getting anything close to top10 value is a win on Winnipeg when he needs to be paid in his prime and the Jets have lost almost all team control with a year remaining much like the Flames with their assets. The Dach team control over the next 4 years at least is worth a ton more. The 1st is going the wrong way

Durzi yesterday who is younger and on a cheaper contract to begin with. Pionk after last year doesn't have over double that value

laugh Too bad that PLD is going to LA, Basically a done deal. This crap of Montreal only was a major joke.

Zero chance in hell, That Connor Hellebuyck takes 7 x $7,500,000 in Buffalo when he wants 8 x $9,500,000 and Adams won't pay it.

And Detroit passes, You're not getting multiple 2nds for Neal Pionk.

And Boston can't afford Mark Scheifele even with moving Debrusk and Ullmark. And fat chance that Ullmark even waives for Winnipeg.
