Here is the deal.
You are correct that is not a bad deal, but it does not help the Sabres.
Krebs at 22 yo (17th OA in 2019) is a physical forward and has a much higher ceiling then 24 yo Ruzicka (109th OA 2017).
So while Adam may have out scored Payton, Buffalo would rather have Krebs' future than Adam's present.
The 13th OA is certainly a fair price for Hanifin unfortunately with Dahlin, Power, and Samualsson, Hanifin would be the fourth LHD and Buffalo has Ryan Johnson who will fill that role later this year.
Hanifin is a UFA and that cannot be ignored.
Buffalo could easily be giving up a 22 yo center with a decent upside and the 13th OA from a great draft (this could be a draft better than 2003) for one season of Noah.
Buffalo would have a greater interest in Tanev for one year.
He would be significantley less expensive, is right handed and would be a great partner for Power.
So
