Read today it is a handshake deal, as long as the player Sens want is till at 17, the deal is 17th, o e of the 2nds and Zadina for Debrincat

I did.

And it said one of the 2nds OR the Boston first.

It seems Yzerman values both picks equally.

So, Ottawa accepts 17, the Boston first and Zadina for DeBrincat.

1) that rumor isn’t from a reliable source.
2) Yzerman typically doesn’t work in “handshake deals”
3) From what I read it’s 17OA and a 2nd if the player Ottawa wants is still there and if he’s not it’s the Boston 2024 1st and a 2023 2nd.
4) DeBrincat might get traded to Detroit, but I don’t think this rumor has any weight on it.

1) Fine
2) Fine
3) Show me what you read and I might believe you.
4) If Detroit doesn't meet our asking price, we'll just trade DeBrincat to another team.

And get less of a return because he won't extend. Works for me. You don't have any leverage over us.

I'm sorry the latest DeBrincat rumor didn't go Detroit's way.

Best of luck with the next one.

Show us a real source on what you read and we might believe you.
And I didn’t read it, just putting 2 and 2 together from the “rumor”.
Ok, trade him to someone else since the Sens have sooooooo much leverage.

I'm sorry that you and RedWing9119 are upset that the latest rumor didn't go Detroit's way.

It's no surprise that when a rumor doesn't go your way, you try to discredit it to preserve whatever ego you have left.

Best of luck with the next one.

Please provide 1 credible source for your “rumor”

There were “rumors” that Detroit were interested in trading Seider to Toronto for Nylander and we all those those are not accurate too

You said the following:

"From what I read it’s 17OA and a 2nd if the player Ottawa wants is still there and if he’s not it’s the Boston 2024 1st and a 2023 2nd".

I then said this in response:

"Show me what you read and I might believe you".

Since then, you have showed me nothing.

Once you are ready to show me what you read, come back and see me.

Otherwise, it would just be your word and whatever amount of credibility you have left.

I’m just seeing where it says “or Boston’s first” and using common sense and inference abilities to determine that Yzerman won’t pay more than what Ottawa did to get DeBrincat. While 99% of the time, a “source” would have a lot more credibility than my word, but given who this “source” is, we find ourselves in the rare occasion where my credibility is equal to the “source” in that, it’s all speculation since Yzerman never leaks anything.

If anything, Yzerman would leak that he’s willing to pay 2 1sts to scare other teams off, thus weakening the market for DeBrincat, thus lowering his price tag.

Of course this is all moot since this “source” is as credible as the guy sitting in the nose bleeds saying that “he knows a guy.”

Apparently Dorian said he does not expect to get into the 1st this year…

I, for one, think the other 30 teams would rather find out from Dorion himself whether he actually costs 2 firsts.

Instead of from a leak to the press that might have come from a GM on another team.

All it takes is one phone call.

We can always get something that includes a 2024 1st instead.

It's not the end of the world.

If Ottawa somehow loses the DeBrincat trade to Detroit, I'll give a brief and honest assessment and then say "Detroit wins the trade" once it is posted on Capfriendly.

Once that happens, make sure to give a like.

It’s not about winning the trade, it’s about seeing the facts. -Cat is coming off of a down year.
-His contract negotiations make the waters murky.
-Sens have no leverage
-Detroit has other options of Cat’s price is too high.

Whether it's a trade, a signing, a hockey game or the Stanley Cup, there's only one thing that matters in this league:

Winning.

Nothing else to it.

Best of luck in your bid for the Cat.

Agreed that winning is what matters in sports. But you can lose a trade and still have a winning team. I’m some cases, losing a trade can help your team win. For example, if the Pens give away a first and Petry for a prospect, they would lose the trade but that cap space helps their team be able to win. Another example would be if a team trades a top prospect and a pick for a 3rd liner. They would lose the trade but that 3rd liner could help them win now.

Of course that only applies to teams who prefer winning on the ice and not winning the offseason. Very rarely are those the same teams…
