Preds pass, that's a hefty price.

Pass on the Nashville trade. Kemmel shouldn’t be in any proposals. He looks like he could be a potential star. I wouldn’t mind going after lindholm though but not for this price

Sabres are not trading for Hanifin, full stop. He plays the wrong side and is the wrong style of defenseman. The Sabres are in the market for a right handed stay-at-home defenseman which Hanifin is not either.

I mean... Completely depends what your GM/coach think about handed-ness, especially given the fact that he has history with Granato. What do you mean wrong style? You prefer a dman that isn't big, mobile, good with the puck, and great in transition?

Wow, what an overpay by the Preds for two upcoming UFAs, Yeah Backlund is nice but the Leafs shouldn't be trading their first and one of few NHL Dmen they have signed for a third liner on the Leafs.

I meant to add that Lindholm would come with an 6 yr, 48 mil extension (8 mil per). I get that it’s a lot to give, but i could see Trotz making a big splash for Lindholm and see a similar price for him as for Horvat (mid 1st+prospect+roster player), and then add Toffoli and consider that we’re taking Duchene’s bad contract I thought it would benefit both teams. I see why you’d pass though, just thought it was a creative idea

Even if handedness is not being considered the second part of the next sentence matters more. The reports are the Sabres are looking for a RHD defense first defenseman. We have two really good big, mobile, good with the puck, great in transition RHD. Hanifin would be the third best of these on the Sabres, he wouldn’t get any powerplay time and would not be a good fit on the roster.

But Hanifin is a defense first dman who should not be on the PP. That is the scouring report any Flames fan would give you. Yes he is also big and mobile, but he is defense first in the same way that Brayden McNabb or Cernak are big, mobile, and defense first, but still pucking moving two-way dmen. To me that’s exactly what you are looking for but don’t realize that Hanifin actually is that type of dman exactly.

Handedness is definitely a valid concern, but otherwise your description fits Hanifin to a tee.
