PLD want to come to MTL it is well documented. LA is being used to increase the pot with the HABS (leveraging)

I can only see Montreal trading for Dubois, IF he agrees to the same contract as Caufield. I don't see them giving him more money than Suzuki.

If Dubois doesn't want the same deal as Caufield, then I don't see Montreal wasting their time. They don't want to mess around with their captaincy hierarchy that they are creating.

This is purely speculation but the Caufield contract clearly fit those parameters. And PLD and Suzuki are similar but Suzuki is their captain. If Dubois agrees to take the back seat to Suzuki, Montreal pulls the trigger. If not, Montreal moves on.

I bet that's the hold up here. I doubt PLD is happy with the Caufield contract.

PLD will be a king. He chose LA over MTL.

And my theory is because MTL would only offer him the Caufield contract and nothing more. So PLD soured to Montreal.

It's just my theory though.

Think you’re onto the right track for sure. My personal opinion is that trade talks with MTL never progressed to the point of them talking to PLD about a contract. I don’t think MTL was ever willing to give up what WPG wanted.
