Description

The Oilers are in win-now mode. This is the year to prioritize the pursuit of "yellow bananas" and surrender the "green bananas". Although this mock-team is far from realistic, I created a team that included many of the players that the Oilers have reportedly been interested in. I truly believe that this new roster would solve many of the Oilers problems, and would have a good chance at winning the Stanley Cup

Additional Details:

Oilers get a defenceman that can actually play defense properly. They could re-sign him next offseason if they want. If not, he serves as a solid rental for the win-now Oilers

Additional Details:

Oilers swap Pesce with Ceci which is an upgrade. The cost of this upgrade is a mid to high end prospet in Tullio and a 3rd round pick

Additional Details:

Oilers receive a significant RW scoring threat that would play well with McDavid in my opinion. Slotting him on the first line will allow Hyman to play with Draisaitl. Oilers still need more scoring depth and Konecny solves this issue perfectly

Additional Details:

Philly receieves a player, in Broberg, who has great potential as a defenceman. The Flyers desperately need a young high-potential defenceman like Broberg. Flyers also get Foegele, who is a very solid middle-six right winger. The loss of Konecny will not be as great. Oilers also send their first-round pick in next year's draft, and their second-round pick in this year's draft. Edmonton has no current need for the players that will come of these picks

Carolina laugh. Ceci is a cap dump. Tulio is fine, but Tulio and a 3rd isn't enough for Pesce.

Not a bad offer but the Flyers aren't using a retainment spot on TK nor should they have to since his contract is extremely reasonable. Foegele (or Yamamoto if you prefer him) in the deal is your "retention."

Yea, I wasn't sure that those pieces would be enough. What would you say is a fair return for Pesce? Keeping in mind that he's a rental. A 2nd instead of a 3rd?

Bouchard needs to be the starting point. He's a top 10 RD in the NHL that Carolina want to re-sign. He's not got ground to ask for ridiculous amounts because his closest comparable makes 6 (Pulock). Bouchard needs to be the starting point, or Edmonton isn't a destination

I'm not sure the trade becomes a necessity for either team then honestly. You're swapping two players who have similar value. Would the Canes want a Broberg in the deal instead of Ceci?

But seeing as DFD are so incredibly rare at Pesce's caliber (Pulock being the only real comparable) you're going to have to pay up. Don't like that price? Absolutely fine. Pesce is a top 10 RHD. Bouchard is not. If you really do not understand that, you need to forget the idea of Pesce

I think you have a common case of overvaluing your own players. If Pesce was that good he would be asking for upwards of 7m on his next contract, not to mention Carolina would do everything in their power to sign him/half the league would be involved in acquiring him. He’s not that good, he’s a solid second pair guy. Bouch isn’t as good defensively but he blows him out of the water in everything offensive.
