They’d probably move Ullmark before Sway.

No idea. I’m not a bruins fan and I’m having a lot of trouble valuing goalies in trades right now. Such a glut of goaltending options both via UFA and as trade bait that makes me think prices should be lower than normal. Also not sure how much more (if any) space bruins need to create but Ullmark helps with that as well.

I think Sway is probably not being traded this offseason unless there is a godfather offer. What you are proposing is not enough -- it needs to start with a first OR a young cost-controlled center.

The Bruins are definitely open to trading Ullmark, but guys over 30 are getting super weak returns in trades right now. I bet a 2nd would do it, and they'd probably take back Vanecek to make the salary work if necessary. But I don't think anyone is offering a 2nd right now, because the Bruins probably already would have taken it. They may hold onto him and hope the market improves in-season.

Once a G UFA signing happens, the market could change drastically. Or if Bergeron or Krejci make their announcements, it could affect the Bruins timeline on Ullmark as well.

There is an argument that the defensive structure and goaltending with opportunistic scoring with one superstar is their path to success. You can find bottom line players with solid AHL regulars as well as prospects. If we can add Connor Carrick to Reilly Walsh, I’m pretty comfortable you can get minutes out of those guys. This team still will have elite players with less depth.

A second round pick is not a premium prospect. What percentage of 3rd round picks make it? I think there are players they’d rather give away than lose Ullmark. I’m also comfortable that 6 of 10 teams that go with questionable goaltenders will be in trouble at the trade deadline.

This is a one year issue. They will have cap room next year. I do think that if an Ullmark deal happens, it will be a smaller savings and add players at a greater position of need. More of a hockey deal that opens up a Swayman/Bussi combo

No from Bruins on that for Swayman. Counter with Ullmark for Holtz.

Bruins have no season to take a 2nd for Ullmark certainly not with also taking cap back.

They certainly no longer have time pressure to act now. They can bide their time and hope the market improves. As long as he doesn't have a terrible year or get injured, the return could definitely jump to a first at the TDL. I think in the offseason a 2nd would be reasonable, but I've gotten this offseason market completely wrong so far.

Yeah I have no idea what the max Ullmark would net in a trade today is. It's still a weird market. And next years market will be weird for the opposite reasons where everyone will suddenly be flush with cash for the first time in years.

I just can't imagine the Bruins would make the move if it was only a 2nd UNLESS they desperately needed the space for some other move that was so good it was OK to take the loss on the Ullmark return.
