Would've been a big yes from CBJ a month ago but at this point I'm not sure

What in the world? COL wouldn’t do that trade ever.

Girard

For

Gudbranson with 1.25m RS leaving a 2.75m cap hit
Boqvist 2.6m cap hit
2nd round pick in 2024 Conditional 1st if CBJ makes SCF with 1/2 playing 50% or more games

5m cap vs 5.35m cap in the echange
COL gets balance on their back end
Its easier to move Gudbranson then Girard at that contract so it wont be more then a year.
Till then they have a gritty tough stay at home D with size for the playoffs
Boqvist though i think they'll do something with same as Toews.

Why does CBJ do it ?
Werenski-Severson
Provorov -Peeke
Girard-Jiricek
Bean

Thats actually a pretty great set up and you can flip Bean in as needed for Match Up Continuity
Nothing they gave up coming back would build them a better team then this one's dcore.

The condition on that pick doesn't make sense. The Jackets send Colorado a pick that gets better if Colorado does better in the playoffs? It should only upgrade if Colorado does poorly with the players they got or if Columbus goes deep in the playoffs. Also, getting Girard doesn't make a whole lot of sense when the Jackets have Mateychuk and Svozil that should be ready over the next 2 years. Investing more money in the defense when they'll need to re-sign so many key RFAs over the next 4 years isn't a smart choice.

The upside to Acronyms are they save time
The downside is COL and CBJ arent far off and easily missed when used in the wrong spots
I shoulda read it back more carefully as i missed that on the re-read focusing on value benefitting both teams making both D-core's better off

That and i just woke up a bit ago so the coffee has hit yet hahaha

Pass. The trade screws the cap for the Jackets. If the Jackets sit tight and are conservative this summer, next summer has all the makings of the Jackets being big time players.
