For one year... There have been a lot of one-year wonders, Pesce has been a steady contributor for a while, and also his contract demands are insane

Necas had 17 fewer points, half the cap his, 2 years younger, faster skater, and has team control as an RFA on expiry. Necas straight up has more value

Well that is ridiculous. As a neutral clearly Nylander is far more valuable than Necas. To be clear the above trade is lopsided but with a smallish add it becomes fair.

How does Necas have less value? In a system that strangles offense, he put up comparable numbers to Nylander, he's an RFA so he has team control, is 2 years younger too, and has half the cap hit. Necas is clearly the more valuable player and it isn't close.

Well Nylander is one of the premiere offensive players in the game. His numbers absolutely destroyed Necas's. Nylander is a three time 30 goal scorer. And a 40 goal scorer.

Necas has had on good season. And it was 12 goals and 16 points less than Nylander's seasons.

As for RFA vs UFA status I don't think it much matters. If you are trading for a UFA you have sounded out with the agent what an extension looks like before you do the deal. It's the same with an RFA actually.

Heck a yr ago you were trying to trade Necas ++ for Miller
And you said its not close tears of joy You are the same guy that said Morrow was going to be the next Makar aren't you.

No, Vancouver fans wanted Necas +++ for Miller, Carolina were never interested. Necas just had a major breakout year, this is like arguing that Tage Thompson has no value because he's only had 2 good years, stop. Necas broke out big time, and he's always shown he could do this, but he finally had a PDO that wasn't in the toilet

He's a good player. If he does it again this yr that'll further cement that. I expect he will but he might not. But again you said it's not close, and Nylander has a track record of far more success. Necas hopes he could score 40 goals in a season. But it's unlikely.

Let's also point out that Nylander plays with one of the league elite talents in Auston Matthews, either at ES or on the powerplay. Necas just had the kind of break out season Nylander had after his hold out, they're on a similar trajectory, and that means Necas is the more valuable player because he's got the better contract, age, and because he's got team control, that is what makes it not close.

Nylander broke out when he was 21. And he's been consistently good since. In fact took it up another level in the last couple season. He's played basically half of the last two season with Matthews so hardly reliant on him.

Necas is 3 yrs younger so that's def a bonus. After that they're both out of contract after this yr so if Necas is on Nylander path he'll get paid the same. PPP Nylander 28, Necas 26. Hardly a difference. Nylander is the better player, Necas younger and cheaper. You've probably brought me around to thinking it is a bit closer than I first thought. Saying it's not close is pretty silly.

Half of 2 seasons is a season with one of the best players in the world...

Necas is an RFA on expiry, so there's team control which you neglected to mention. Nylander is a UFA. Nylander also has a history of holding out and throwing his toys out of the pram. Necas is the better skater, and in a system that doesn't strangle offense as much as Raleigh, he's a PPG player. Not to mention it's looking more and more like Necas is playing C this season. Meaning he will play a more valuable position too. Then you factor in the age difference.

They both need a contract is what it comes down to. As I mentioned in previous posts anyone trading for them has sounded out an extension. If Necas plays center and does what he did last season than I would start to lean your way. If he regresses to 50-60 points then all of sudden its clearly Nylander. Necas started the season on fire and slowed in the second half even. So lets just see him do it for another season before we anoint him.

You say this like Nylander is an established PPG player when he's had one season over a PPG. Nylander has as much chance of regressing as Necas, but you're only talking about Necas' regression. You cannot account for one side but not the other. And being an RFA with team control as opposed to a UFA is important because the team holds the rights to Necas at the end of the year, Nylander can walk for nothing. That means Necas is CLEARLY more valuable
