How much do you expect to get for him? Tampa is already on the decline and their division is getting alot stronger so who knows if they even make playoffs in 2 years. That 1st could end up being pretty high. Both prospects were over point a game in their draft years. Sure I think you could maybe get more but this feels more reasonable.

If Zadina is bought out (Wings need an arbitration case to be allowed one after deadline passed) then you can sign him for far less like $900K….Flames may still get him

But why would the Wings buy him out? He already cleared waivers.

Because contracts are guaranteed in NHL…buy him out or carry full cap hit and have to keep him

First Detroit has a ton of cap space.

Second someone will give up at least a 7th before they have to buy him out. Even moving him for future considerations is better than having to buying him out.

Third no one was going to claim him at this point in the season. A player claimed off of waivers has to stay on the roster and moving that player off the roster requires waiving him again. I'm sorry but Zadina isn't good enough to take up a roster spot especially when no one has a their roster set. It's also quite common for a player to clear waivers and then get traded right after for this reason.
