I wouldn't even trade Swayman for Scheifele 1 for 1. Sway fits the Bruins' timeline much better than 30 year old soon-to-be UFA Scheifele. The idea of trading away more 1st round picks on top of that makes me want to crawl under my desk and curl into a ball.

Random 25/26 year old border line nhlers doesn’t overly add to the package, Beecher would be intriguing with swayman, probably don’t want to push that first too far either, bruins due a decline soon.

Swayman wants closer to home. The bruins are in need for a replacement at center, Scheiff is a top 6 center on every team in this league, he can do the job for the next 5 years when they lock him up.

Where’d you hear Swayman wants to be closer to home?

Never heard this before. Source? Also, Winnipeg is closer to Boston than Alaska... not sure that really helps. tears of joy

The strategy for the Bruins should not be more duct tape and band-aids. They aren't contending for the cup for a couple years, so they need to make signings that match their timeline. 33 year old Scheifele making 8m is not something I want to sign up for, but 27 year old Swayman making 4m sounds quite appealing. I'd rather take my chances on the UFA market or hope we swing a trade for a prospect.

Wouldn’t trade Swayman for Scheifele with $2m retention

No he doesn't. That rumor came from one of Boston's radio stations that's notorious for making things up to generate buzz.

Here's an actual quote from Swayman from a few weeks ago

"I think the team’s going to be really special in years to come and obviously, I want to do everything I can to be a Bruin,” Swayman told the radio hosts. “I absolutely love wearing that Spoked-B.”

Just a few weeks before that he said....

I leave that up to the agents and the guys that are good at that,” Swayman said. “I’m excited for sure, I absolutely love it here, and it’s going to be a fun process.”

If he wanted to be closer to home he wouldn't have made a comments like that. He also would have went home to Alaska as soon as he could instead of staying in Boston well after their season was over.

If he wanted to be close to home, Seattle would likely be the destination, but all his comments suggest he wants to stay. Why would anyone want to leave Boston for Winnipeg?

He’s like my second or third option in free agency next year.
