Description

Pesce is likely better than either fabbro or carrier ever will be and he is young enough to be part of the retool/rebuild.

Further thoughts: bailey adds a stable vet to a young 3rd line. Each line gets 1: ror/forsberg, Nyquist, bailey, sissons etc.

Trade deadline: if out of it barrie, trenin, and possibly novak get traded if possible. Livingstone, Afanasyev, and one of the scratches tag in.

If the Canes finally complete the DeAngelo trade next week, and we do this trade, we have way too many defenders…

If there is a fit, it would be in a three way trade or we’d be looking for more futures/picks to use in another trade for a 2C or EK

That’s $5M of cap coming back to CAR, when the point of moving on from Pesce would be to clear cap for other moves. CAR actually ends up adding $1M in cap after this deal.

No chance the Canes consider this

Pesce is a solid defenseman, but he doesn't bring a 1st++ value to NSH. If the Leafs can find a place to dump Barrie, maybe a three way deal with TOR? NSH gets Nylander, TOR gets Pesce and one of Carrier/Fabbro, CAR gets the other NSH dman and the 1st? Minor adjustments as needed.
