Doubt Monahan gets a first even if healthy. A second and a B prospect will probably be the return

It was a first with retention so it’s pretty bad. We are not going to retain more than 2 millions for 4 years

You forgot Harris. Harris might go at the TDL like Sandin did.

No, just habs fans without hockey knowledge are trading Harris
Not saying he is untouchable, but I highly doubt he gets move
Maybe in 2-3 years if other players outplay him

We don't have anyone to replace him, so not really
Anyway I remember your name and you have zero hockey knowledge, so I won't entertain you any further

Raise your hand if you thought Chiarot wouldn't get a 1st. Raise your hand again if you thought a 2nd for Kulak is an overpay.

Truth is that at TDL a lot of GMs overpay for some players, even if they are rentals. There are a lot of offers for some players which increases their value. Just like UFA market where 75% of the players get more money than what they're worth.

I can name you a lot of other examples that does not concern habs...

TDL 2023 : Granlund traded for 2nd round pick. Eller traded for 2nd round pick. Five picks and a prospect for Jeannot (including 1st and 2nd).
TDL 2022 : Copp traded for 1st, 2nd and Morgan Barron. Dermott traded for 3rd round pick. Hagel traded for two 1st round pick and two prospects.

I may not have "hockey knowledge", but I can certainly count, and this team has way too many defensemen who come in a better package than Harris to use him. Just because you have an asset, does not mean you need to hold it.

Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj are all ahead of him on the left not to mention Hutson, Engstrom & Struble coming up in a year or two.

On the right I expect as of 2024 we will have Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron, Kovacevic, Savard

It's not that I think Harris is a bad hockey player, but you need to give something to get something like the Leafs did with Sandin and the Rangers did with Lundkvist.

The only dman better than Harris are Guhle & Matheson
Until someone outplays Harris, they won’t move him
I don’t care when YOU think the others will be NHL ready, maybe they’ll take 2 years, maybe more. Maybe they’ll never make it. But until someone pushes him out of the line up, he stays IMO

If Hoffman is healthy, the Habs can keep him. Canes have no interest in acquiring him.

So then you plan to trade Xhekaj after drafting his brother :P? Or maybe you want to bench him even though he put up better offensive stats, hits more, hits harder, stands up for his teammates?

If he is healthy, he gets that. If he isn’t, he has zero value. So yeah he is worth 2 millions and he probably couldn’t have sign for more

No we don’t. He is very effective and he is a beast once we remake the playoff (hopefully 2 years)

Didn’t say that
My future line up if everyone hits would be :
Hutson-Reinbacher
Guhle-Mailloux
Xhekaj-Barron
Harris/Engstrom rotating with Xhekaj

But I’m not trading Harris away until the others are proven
