I don't think Flyers are as far away as it seems, their prospect pool is deeper than it seems, but Michkov makes their timeline 3 years. Konecny as an UFA after years of losing may look to go elsewhere so it may actually be best to go ahead and move him. Maple Leafs will be looking for a good winger at a decent price if they move Nylander. Leafs want Hart, dump Murray, and actually keep Samsonov as a trade chip to recoup some picks.

I have a theory on Carter Hart.

I'm wondering if there is somewhat of a gentleman's agreement between the Flyers and a team that once the Hockey Canada investigation is over, and they are sure Hart isn't involved, that there is a deal to be worked out. I don't think there is a sure fire deal in place, but there are some parameters of a deal worked out to start from. Now don't get me wrong, I could be way off base. I just find it fishy that the Flyers have drafted 2 goaltenders in the last draft. Have Kolosov looking good. Ersson has shown promise to at least be a number 2. Sandstrom looks at worst to be a random NHL spot starter to a solid number 2. Drafting 2 more just feels like they are preparing for a Hart trade or they expect to hear Hart's name in the investigation. They also don't want to have to pay him his next contract because they expect to rebuild for a few more years. Also, another reason for my theory is the goalie market is strangely cold despite names being on the market. Wonder if one of the teams already has an idea Hart could be theirs on a good deal this year, and then a projected cap jump next year can afford his next contract as a RFA.


Caps may want to capitalize on Ovie's last few years. Although I think they do really like Leonard, they may make a big jump to secure another sure fire goal scorer. Ryan Leonard is a hefty price, but it is essentially only that for the caps so its like giving pick 8 for Nylander as Mantha is a cap dump at this point.
