Description
I was assured by many Ottawa fans that the Sens would get Berggren, Rasmussen, Edvinsson, or Kasper (and from a select handful of crazies, Raymond or Seider) back in a DeBrincat trade.

But all trash talk aside, how does everyone feel about the trade?

What's the point of this? Sens fans have had enough just let them be

It's not less than I figured they'd get but the pieces are a bit different. I'm not happy with just a 4 year deal but idk how much of that is Yzerman being a hardo or cat not wanting a long deal.

I'm ok with it. A serviceable middle six winger, a decent prospect along with a 1st and a 4th for a player who can't show commitment to the team he's on? All things considered Ottawa got more than they should have. Cat is a great scorer, but showed he has no defensive capabilities and cannot drive play without Kane. It'll be interesting to see what happens in Detroit whether he continues to drop off or can find a way to pick it back up.
He was a redundant piece with Stutzle getting to his peak. Also, with Norris returning there should be zero drop in goal production, despite the departure of Cat.

Deal wise, it’s pretty much in line with what I’d think we’d get. Thought we’d maybe get a better prospect/young player but with the deal Debrincat signed, looks like he only had 1 place he wanted to sign and that was Detroit so makes sense yzerman wouldn’t budge on Berggren. Didn’t think we’d get Kasper or Edvinsson (anyone suggesting Seider or Raymond is ridiculous). All in all, not great, not terrible just kind of a meh return. If Ottawa can sign Tarasenko or Tatar now I’d feel better heading into next year!

Agreed that most Sens fans didn’t say it would be Seider or Raymond, but those few were annoying(kind of how this post is annoying so apologies there).

I completely agree there is absolutely no reason for this

Not a lot has gone right for Detroit from awful lottery luck to losing 2 players out of our top 6. This is a much needed win for Detroit and that should be enough.

You’re right. I just grew tired of the “Berggren, Kubalik, and Detroit’s 1st” or “Raymond and a pick” takes
