Boston says no, Minn says no (Lee probably won’t waive anyway), Tor says no and there is no way Isles are going to retain on contracts to have $5M in dead cap.

Boston hangs up - Pageau is kind of redundant for a team that already has Charlie Coyle.

Neither team would do the Lee deal - the Isles wouldn't want to have to retain that much money for that long, and I don't think Minnesota can even afford Lee at $3.5M and give RFA deals to Addison, Duhaime, & Gustavsson.

Toronto is an easy no for that deal. Palmieri at $3M is a good value, but Holmstrom's NHL audition was kind of "meh" and Bolduc doesn't really push anyone on that team's D-corps out of a spot.

I don't think a 4th is enough to get Boston to say yes, but I could see a deal centered around JGP (plus a better pick/prospect) and DeBrusk working.

Unless Bergeron and/or Krejci decide not to retire, Boston is woefully short on competent centers. Right now they have Coyle, and I guess could move Zacha back to center full time, but after that, IDK what the plan would be for the other two lines.

Obviously, JGP may not be ideal for them since (assuming Bergeron and Krejci are done) they need more of a top-6 guy and he's more of a middle-6/3C type, but he has been good enough in the past to play top-6 minutes when needed, and there is no one better available in UFA.

Stop believing clickbait sites speculation.

Boston has no need for JGP.

Debrusk for JGP 50% retention/Wahlstrom. Maybe

Debrusk/3rd for JGP 50% ret/1st…sure thing.

But how does it possibly make sense to trade Debrusk, when there is no internal replacement for him, for C3 that they don’t need & adds to the cap in a straight trade…to add 4th….it doesn’t.

They have 4 middle 6 centers in the lineup every night and 2 of the closest to being ready FW prospects are centers.

Adding yet another middle 6 center as absolutely pointless.

And that is before decisions from. 37 & 46.

They need a long term #1C. JGP does not solve that and his contract with term actually hinders them from solving it

I don’t see Boston trading DeBrusk. I’m hopeful they resign him to an extension since his trade request was more driven by the relationship with the former coach.

I’m not going to rip Pageau, because he’s good player but DeBrusk is a very complete forward who should be a building block for the future.

Not nearly enough for DeBrusk.

Isles aren't trading Lee. He's overpaid but he's still a valuable player and showed really nice chemistry with Horvat. I'm not a huge fan of Barzal playing wing but I think the Lee-Horvat-Barzal line will be a big deal next season.

I actually think that's good value for Nylander but the Leafs can probably get better value elsewhere.
