Just don’t think canes are signing nylander to an extension he wouldn’t receive from TOR

I think it has been said a million times, it is highly unlikely this teams make a trade that works.
Leafs only want to move Nylander if they are getting a young offensive stud back like Jarvis/ Neces which we know Canes will not want to move.

I think he is saying that Carolina would be able to workout a dear before the trade goes through. Like the DeBrincat to Detroit trade.

Yes I know, but those extension deals are extremely important in any post with Nylander. $9m AAV is good $10.5m AAV is a no go. It makes a big difference

Moving Nylander and freeing up cap space to sign one of the big name UFAs left on the board. So I imagine just picks would be ideal.

The Canes aren’t going to give him the 10mil he won’t get in Toronto, and the Canes don’t make the big swings for rentals, so this trade just isn’t going to happen.

Just on paper. Leafs would need a better forward but value wise. It’s not a bad trade.

Off paper. If Toronto can’t afford Willy’s next contract, there’s a good chance that the canes can’t either. If there was more cap space to be had I think they would be great trade partners but there isn’t enough cap to make it work

I agree $10M is a lot of money but if Carolina and Nylander cant come to terms the only thing you've lost is time. But even at $9M would it make sense.

Torontos problem is, basically all the team with capspace aren't interested in Nylander, as they dont need to peak in the next three years. They're currently almost 9mil over the cap. Isn't Muzzin expected back ?
