Truly dreaming if you think you are getting more assets than you have to give up to move Goodrow and his remaining years left. It would be different if he was expiring. CHI would be right to squeeze the Rangers as there are not many choices they have.

What a bad trade for a team rebuilding and needing picks.

If you flip the the 2nd as going to the Hawk the answer is still no (as Jones is not all that intriguing and adds to the glut of LHD prospects the Hawks have). Goodrow starts with one of Othmann or a 1st and an actual conversation can occur...otherwise best of luck

Chicago rebuild is over. Team has been bad for 6 straight years and with Bedard now there they will look to quickly turn it around. Giving up a 1 2nd round pick to get a former 3rd round pick in Jones who is offensive and NHL, plus Goodrow, a team first guy with 2 cups, is not really a big ask. Chicago still have 5 1st round picks and 8 2nd round picks the next 3 drafts - they will use the picks to accelerate the rebuild for teams looking to dump stars and or role players especially since they have cap flexibility.

More on trading picks to accelerate the rebuild - I wanted the Rangers to stay full rebuild and use Laf, Kakko, Chytil on the top 6 but that did not happen. High picks the Rangers traded include a 1st and 2nd for Copp, 2 2nds for Fox (even though they could have waited a season and signed him as a UFA), 2 2nds to clear Nemeth salary, 2nd for Kane, 1st for Tarasenko...so those moves are 2 1st and 6 2nds - and there were other trades involving other picks. I do not think Chicago will go that extreme but they will try to right the ship a lot faster than some may think to taste the playoffs.

The Hawks rebuild just started with Kyle from Chicago taking over for Stan Bowman. Bowman was not rebuilding, he was just making the team bad. The rebuild still has about 2-3 years before we start trading assets to get competitive.

Hawks say no, sorry.
