You are either under valuing everything coming to Pittsburgh or greatly over valuing everything you are sending out.

The Nylander deal depends entirely on two things:

1. How much does Toronto want/need to move Murray?
and 2. Do they move Nylander if he won’t re-sign?

As of now, they can just buy out Murray, and if they move Nylander at all (highly unlikely), they’ll probably move him come the TDL.

Not to mention, of course, that any possible Nylander return would require the sort of player Pittsburgh can’t give up or the sort of prospect they don’t have.

Hawks obviously decline. A 3rd and DeSmith don't get the Pens one year of retention on EK65, let alone 4.

As other Blackhawks fans have said, that is an extremely low price for retaining $2M of Karlsson. You're looking at at least 2 firsts.
