Why not give that $83 in cap space to Dumba's contract? /s
Better hope for no injuries.

Sorry bud, but you can't take Brodie off that blueline and call it an improvement.

They weren't winning anything with him in the lineup so I think the Leafs will be okay. Some Leafs fans like to overrate Brodie because compared to the rest of the group he has a defensive conscience and can use his stick but he's not an intrinsic piece. His contributions have been highly exaggerated.

McCabe can't be the only defensively conscious guy out there. The Rielly - Brodie pairing has been reliable as they balance each other out, it just won't work.

One year of Nylander isn't worth that much to the Jets.

Brodie's time as a Leaf was put in jeopardy when Treliving signed Klingberg for 4 million. There isn't enough money to go around.

I think the Leafs should downgrade from Brodie, get a cheaper defenceman and get a better 3C to play with Knies. Kampf is a 4C who will diminish the value of any talented winger he plays with, whether it be Knies or Domi.

The only other solution would be to trade Nylander for a legitimate young top 4 defenceman with term and I don't think a guy like that is out there because teams usually don't give those guys up.

Jets can convince him to re-sign if they overpay a little.

Hawks decline. They aren't spending a pick for one year of Brodie.

Why overpay him, he's already overpaid and overhyped... Hard pass on Nylander. Stay in Toronto were the so called top end are overpaid.

Fine tuning a contender, lots of laughs. Perhaps getting the entire team salary structure in line would be a start.

They can retain half and trade him to a contender at the trade deadline for a 2nd.

Doubt the hawks would take brodie for free at this point. Their team is pretty much set. They're definitely not paying for brodie. They have plenty of guys to flip at the deadline. Toronto can pay a 2nd to get the 5 mil in cap space if they want but other than that the hawks have no interest.

Sure. Assuming he plays well in the Hawks system and that he's healthy at the TDL. You didn't convince me.

It's what a smart rebuilding team would do. Brodie at 2.5 million to play in the bottom pair for a playoff run would yield a good return. And Brodie hardly ever gets injured. He plays to his strengths so he'll fit in any system.

It's ok bro, we good here. Not paying assets for a player we don't need for the HOPE that we can get more assets later. But like others said if you wanna pay us to take him so you can make your other deals, then cool.
