Description

I know I should only focus on this season, but with the Sens up against the cap (first time in forever), I keep looking at Sanderson's performance bonus of 1.85M. Having that penalty is something the team just shouldn't have next season and avoid it if possible. This is why I was not a big fan of the Hamonic signing. I know he picked up the slack towards the end of the season and a great PKer, but Ottawa could have used that cap space now.
Right now I would not worry about signing or trading for anyone. I feel like if there is another move coming, like Taresenko or Konecny, Joseph will be moved out.
For the lines, I think Greig should be with Timmy and G because Greig and G had great chemistry in their short stint last season and G really helps Timmy with faceoffs (Greig can take faceoffs too). I think Norris needs to be surrounded by Brady and Drake to help gain confidence back and hopefully get him back into his 35 goal season form (I will not hold it over him if he only scores 20 this season). I think the 3rd line is also great, two 20 goal scorers and Joseph should have a good bounce back season. The 4th line outside of Kasty looks bad. MacEwan to me is a downgrade on Watson (great PKer) and MacEwan just fights basically from what I have seen and Kelly, hopefully this will be his breakout season or just shows great composure in both ends of the ice... Kasty is awesome.
The D core is amazing, I wouldn't mind if they ran 11-7, take MacEwan out and have Hamonic as 7th D and PK1 guy.
Hopefully Korpisalo can play as well as he did last regular season.
High hopes this season. Playoffs or bust.

Unless Karlsson is coming in at 50% (highly unlikely), the trade will be very difficult to pull off. I think the D core is solid enough as it is for the first time since the rebuild began. Don't need to throw a wrench in by bringing back a relic from the past regardless of the fact that he had the best statistically season of his career offensively.

Stay the course for now and maybe address the offense at a later date if it seems to be drying up.

really like the idea of bringing norris back with batherson and tkachuk
also love the idea of greig on the first line he can get 50 pts playing with stu and g
love the 3rd line also
hopefully formanton can come play on the 4th line

I'd try to put Kelly back in the minors personally. Give Sokolov a chance on the 4th line and have Smejkal as a scratch to swap in and out with the 4th line wingers as needed. I would rather eat a beer bottle than have Kelly play for the Senators again, but alas Smith is the man and I am but a humble peon.
