Isles aren’t gonna retain on Pageau in exchange for a fourth line winger and a third pair defenseman

If the rumor is true and we’re actually in on JGP Sweeney must go

You would need to expand deal where Debrusk was involved somehow

Frederic scored 17 EVG last year which would have been 3rd on the islanders. But he’s a fourth liner. Cool story man

At even strength last season:
-Frederic: 31 pts with an average time on ice of 11:24
-Pageau: 32 pts with an average time on ice of 13:18

What does that make of Pageau if he can't outproduce a 4th liner? With at least $2.5M-$3M higher cap hit? Also, if you think Grzelcyk is a 3rd pair D, you should want the Isles to acquire him because you only have two good defensemen in this case and he'd become your 3rd best.

No thanks, zero need of another 3rd line especially one that could regress and be overpaid by the end of his deal. Pageau is 3C. Just stick with Zacha who re-signed recently, Geekie who will apparently have a bigger role and Coyle.

Trade Grzelcyk and Frederic if you want, but in a package for a better player or future assets.

Why would the Bruins want Pageau? He is a great 3C, but he is over 30 and makes 5m for 3 years. We already have that with Coyle. If we use assets and cap space, it should be for a bonafide top 6 player or prospects/picks.

The isles have Dobson, Pelech and Pulock. He’s probably not better than Romanov and Grzelyck. He would he be their 3rd best lefty at best.

Not easy to compare the production of a center to a winger. Also while I think Frederic could play higher in the lineup, he doesn’t move the needle for me.

Sure. We will let you enjoy the final 3 years of his contract then.

The rumour has already been debunked. It was a beat writer baiting clicks for his trade idea article.

I’m not worried about his contract, but I understand why you wouldn’t want to trade DeBrusk or Frederic for him.

Would rather keep the cap space next year with so many potential top free agents

Wouldnt even give Freddy for JGP 1 for 1, let alone adding all that, just doesnt make sense to acquire another aging 3C

Also ditching Grz makes a huge hole in top 4LD for this year, Lohrei would likely fill it next year, but for this year Zboril/Forbort is a big yikes

If we add in a 2nd & 3rd, would you add DeBrusk?

I wouldn’t. Second round picks are decent swings, but I go with the young talented two way wing.
