If the Leafs waive Lafferty I'd scoop him up in a second! He embodies the speed and hard work this team is working towards. It's no coincidence that after the trade, Kyle Davidson was looking for a poor man's Lafferty. He would be welcomed back in a heartbeat!

Not sure what the purpose here was but this is equal measures unlikely and undesirable… so congrats

Yes and no. I love the guy and would love to have him back, but does he really put a claim in on a 28 year old pending UFA, when he already has too many forwards as it is? Maybe he circles back to him years down the road in free agency if he is still playing well and they need someone like him, but, other than that, I don't see it. CHI has too many many pieces to work through over the next few years, and will likely have other targets for TDL trade bait and sneaky good hockey trades.

For me I send Entwistle down in without a second thought. They could also send Blackwell down or flip him. I doubt the Leafs waive him though. I'm sure some team with trade assets for him.

Really? Why Entwistle? I'd send Reese Johnson and/or Katchouk down before I'd send Entwistle. Either way, I feel like it'd be a pointless usage of the waiver wire, pushing CHI back in the waiver order, and a needless risk of assets, putting young guys like Enty, RJ, or Katchouk on waivers. Lafferty isn't a player that is gonna be around when CHI is really ready, IMO.

I'd rather use our waiver claim on someone much younger with more upside.

You make a valid point about the waiver wire. I used Entwistle because I'm not really a fan of his game but it could easily be Johnson or Katchouk too. I think having Lafferty while the identity of the team is still being established would pay huge dividends in terms of him modeling work ethic and heart.

Yeah. I guess... They probably have enough of that as it is, though. If they needed bodies I could see it, but they really don't. Which is something that I am actually kind of perplexed by... I'm not sure why Davidson added so many players so early and so quickly. There was plenty of time and room for patience to let the summer unfold. But, I guess he wanted to shut everyone up with the "how is CHI gonna hit the cap floor?!?!?!" questions.
