Doesn't make the Leafs better, and don't know if Preds want two upcoming UFAs. If by chance Brodie is on Nashville's trade list.....maybe "gifting" him to Nashville to gain cap space is the best option. As GMDannyB noted above Murray is not LTIR.
To the many Leaf fans.....LTIR is not a get outta cap hell freebie.

Adding a winger of Nylander's caliber for a less than astronomical price would be great, and NSH can even take Brodie without having to jettison anyone else to fit him under the cap (he's still not much of a "gift" or sweetener though).

The problem is you're making NSH even weaker down the middle by taking Glass away from them, and they already weren't good enough at center to contend in the first place. Preds decline.

We'll have to wait. There's been talk about the Leafs potentially being unable to buy Murray out over questions about his health. Leafs' priority is probably still to trade him, so we'll see if that or a buyout happens in the next few days. If neither happens, then it probably means there's something that will keep him on LTIR for the start of the season.

No he reported that he believes there is an injury issue, Leafs PR just announced he is out indefinitely.
