Trade Deadline

Created by: Stan_Bowman_Burner
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 25, 2023
Published: Jul. 25, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think what's best for Bedard's development is to have consistent linemates for his first year + change. I don't think Hall or Athanasiou get traded this year, but more than likely next year at the deadline. This will allow Reichel to join Bedard by mid-2024 which will lead to a big FA winger signing to round out the top line during the 2025 off-season, commencing the contention window. Oliver Moore then becomes defacto 2C with Nazar playing on his right side.

A top-6 in 2025 featuring Bedard - Reichel on the top line and Moore - Nazar on the second line is going to attract big name forwards to sign.

I could see Dickinson being in demand if he plays as well as he did last year.

Foligno and Perry there's just no way to guess right now. If they put a bunch of garbage points (PP time, shifts with Bedard line etc) they could be worth a mid-decent asset like a 3rd with retention, best case scenario. It's also possible that they're overpaid 4th liners CHI won't be able to give away. At their age it's 50-50.

I think I met you in the middle with those proposals then. lol Foligno is more likely to have the better year and be more attractive come TDL but Perry's playoff experience would be pretty important for anyone. It's anyone's guess but I think regardless, those two are locks to get moved.

The way foligno and perry have talked about coming to chi this year make me think perry is the more likely to be moved at the deadline. Also as the longest tenured hawk I doubt Murphy gets traded at least until Bedard gets the C this really becomes his team.

I don't see the Hawks retaining for a 6th. Also Dickinson will be worth something at the TDL and there's not enough value coming back in the Murphy/Raddysh trade.

I think any of Dickinson, Foligno, Perry or Tyler Johnson will be impossible to move at the deadline without retention. No contending team that's looking to add will have enough cap space, or won't want to waste what they do have on overpaid bottom 6 forwards. That Ottawa trade seems like a deal made in the off season rather than the TDL, and isn't very good for the Hawks unless TRad regresses significantly this season.

Ottawa quickly says no to that. New management will fix the 1st problem which was no 1st round picks for 3 years (I don't consider Boucher a 1st round pick prospect) so they will keep DET's 1st not knowing where it could land (Boston?), or trade it for a longer term piece than either of these guys
