Nothing against Pesce. He's been great value for years. But seven years starting at the age 30, seems to misstep, though many teams do it.

Signing Olofsson would be a waste of cap space for the Canes. Would sooner try to bring Turbo back than sign Olofsson. Would be ecstatic if the Canes sign Sprong to that, and love the Forbort move as well. As for Pesce, I think the take it or leave it offer caps out at 6.5mil from the Canes. Hopefully he stays, but I doubt the Canes offer him 7.35mil.

This. I love him, but that amount of money could be better spent elsewhere. Olofsson isn't the answer to our scoring issues.

Yep, the Canes who were 15h in NHL scoring could use a little help there. But they were 5th in goal differential. Going to 10th in scoring and 3rd goal differential might put them over the top, but how to do it? Question for most team, how to get better internally.

It's always interesting to watch fans call a player untouchable and then all their agms sign them to such small deals.
