Nylander is a 27 year old rental that is hellbent on going UFA next summer. Edvinsson is a future top line defender. Detroit wouldn't even consider a 1-for-1 with those two.

In order for you to get this return you'd have to add Matthews and only if they both came with extensions would it be accepted.

I don't know if you're agreeing with me or not but...

Toronto is 2 million over the cap and in two months time they will have to start giving players away for free in order to become cap compliant. Nylander is UFA next summer and he is not going to stick around in Detroit unless he gets 10+ million on a long term deal, money that Detroit don't have the cap room to give him. Toronto has no leverage at all in any trade negotiation, they are forced to accept whatever they're given.

Edvinsson is a top 10 pick that will be a top pair defender in the NHL in two or three years time. Berggren is already a top-6 player, Söderblom is a very special player that will become a top-9 player with special qualities. All three of them are cost controlled for another half dozen years.

Nylander is, to Detroit who is not a contender, nothing but a rental that would be traded for profit at next years TDL. We're only interested in him if the cost of getting him is less than what he'll bring back at that time.

To think anything here matches a signed Matthews is ridiculous. You guys are nuts

Matthews is egregious, Nylander is too little.

Both can be true.

You can use definite terms like that for prospects. Plenty don't pan out. You hope that's what they will be

Are you saying that predicting the future is hard..?

That is not news to me. The likelyhood of Edvinsson not becoming a top pair defender is smaller than Toronto winning the Stanley Cup...

Detroit couldn't pass hard enough, Berggren, Edvinsson and Soderblom aren't available for William Nylander. We'll just stay the course.

Ive seen it, That's even a bigger joke. Those players would only be moved for Auston Matthews. Laff fans are going majorly overboard on this site.

Edvinsson for Nylander 1 for 1 is fair (RW doesn't;t accept this trade though) but if RW want Matthews and especially w extension on his own... Seider, Kasper and Edvinsson are automatically being thrown in... No shot the Leafs aren't asking for a premium to trade Matthews to a division rival

Edvinsson is Detroit's best defensive prospect. Detroit have DeBrincat, Raymond, Perron, Mazur, Sprong as right shooting wingers. There's no way they would consider trading their best prospect in a poition of need for one year of a winger in a position where they already have plenty of talent.

The proposal is utterly delusional.

No, it's not... you are literally giving up 1 prospect for 1 40 goal scorer... That's an auto accept from Yzerman's point of view and from Toronto's case, Edvinsson helps with depth at a cheap cost... it's the definition of a win-win... Nylander automatically becomes Detroit's best winger and 3rd best player at least who's also in his prime... Detroit also basically becomes a lock for the playoffs without giving up the farm

Berggren, Soderblom, and a 2nd just don’t exist in this trade then?

Detroit declines easily

I already said RW decline but Edvinsson for Nylander 1 for 1 is fair though IMO
