Canucks pass. Not that the value of the trade is off, just that it doesn’t fit their cap or their needs.

Vancouver cannot trade away an unprotected first with their defence, especially without Cole.

Also, why are there ever any Nylander to VAN trades? We cannot afford to give up high picks. We can't afford to give up prospects. We can't afford to give up D. The one thing we have is wingers and unless you're accepting Boeser and a second, VAN doesn't have the assets

Canucks decline. Value isn’t off, the deal just doesn’t fit our needs at all. The last thing we need is another winger. We also can’t afford to be giving up high picks and young players/prospects with the current state of our prospect pool. Furthermore, the Canucks can’t afford a Nylander extension, so we’d be giving up multiple high value assets for a rental when we’re not in the position to be doing so at all.

That Canucks trade is legitimately one of the worst nylander proposals I’ve seen for the Leafs & that is saying something 🤦🏻

They could definitely get more from a different team. But the Canucks 2024 1st is likely going to be high again as they’ll have a hard time leapfrogging teams into a playoff spot. Which is exactly why I don’t want them trading it.

For the Leafs, Cole & Hoglander are it moving the needle in anyway (with all due respect). And a 2024 1st (maybe mid round) is nice, but for a team in win now mode it is really not that valuable. Maybe we could flip - as part of package - to land a replacement forward, but I can pretty much guarantee any replacement we could land would not be as good as Willy. Just makes no sense for the Leafs, and apparently the Canucks too
