honestly I agree. I was just curious on how high montreal view there players

It's called they overvalue their players... MTL fans would find an excuse why Cole Caufield is better than Matthews nowadays...

I could found the footage of it but the article describes exactly the action on that footage. A game against the Sabres last year. Anderson was drilling Dahlin all game long. At some point tou clearly see Dahlin gave the puck up in the corner just to not be hit by the Anderson express. Also Anderson can score goal he is near the 20 mark each year. Might be overpaid but still a very very useful players.
Not sure why all the hate around here. Start to remain me the Lehkonen situation where people thought they would get him for a 3rd round pick.

According to Habs fans, one of them is an overpaid 4rth liner, the other is a great 1rst/2nd liner... Please make sense of this... Anderson won't drop the gloves either... Reaves does

LOL lets stop pretending its leaf fans when its habs fans most of the time

If you prefer denial of reality, that's your thing, but I can't confirm you there's soooo many more Toronto's fans AGMs about Anderson.

Most habs fans have no problem with keeping the guy.

This is a correct take, Anderson is a 3rd liner who can put up 20 goals and play fast and heavy. Unfortunately he’s paid like a top 6 player, which knocks down his value.

but what everyone seems to forget is that if MTL retains salary (like here for example $2.2mil for 4 years) Anderson should no longer be considered overpaid, and suddenly should be worth his weight in gold for what he brings on a value contract (here again for example $3.3mil for 4 years).

Anderson doesn't score 15 on a good team though... He would be on the 3rd line... MTL would HAVE to retain to even come close to what they'd want... JA is also NOT a playoff performer:

https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/calle-jarnkrok-playoffs
https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/matthew-knies-playoffs

I would argue he's not worth 3.3... but I can see teams paying him if MTL retains 2.2 for the next 4...

To sum, MTL retaining doesn't make him get this super high value... It'll get him a decent return, but not a top prospect like some people here are thinking

Anderson played 3rd line minutes during the 2021 playoffs and produced at exactly what you’d expect a contending team 3rd liner would produce… he scored goals that mattered (2 game winners), had positive possession metrics during those playoffs (look them up yourself), and had a whopping 87 hits in 22games. To say Anderson didn’t perform well in the playoffs just shows you have no idea what you’re talking about.

No one is denying Anderson is overpaid. But if any team is buying what Anderson is selling, it’s EXACTLY for what he did during the Habs cup final run…

This make absolutely no sense. Are you high? Don’t understand at all what you try to demonstrate.

Anderson had 6 points in 22 games for the Habs though... That's an abysmal performance... especially for a guy whom the Habs are looking to ship for a 1st+, even with retention... Anderson was a nonfactor at best against the leafs in the playoffs and wasn't very good beyond that point... 1 point in 7 games. And according to Habs fans, that was THE defining series for JA... I don't think any good GM is looking at JA and thinking: This guy will swing a series for me... He doesn't score, doesn't fight and isn't good at defence... 3 major red flags

Reaves had roughly half of Anderson's total points... but plays a lot tougher and faster than Anderson... I think the Leafs don't need Anderson

Only 4 more years of saying NO to TML's fans trying to trade for Anderson retained.

Don't know why any leafs fan would want a injury prone overpaid guy for 4 years anyways.

I don’t know what you’re expecting from 3rd line production, but anymore and you might as well consider him top 6. If you average out Anderson’s 5 goals in 22 games over a full season, it gives just under 19 goals… which is what you expect from him.
I know leaf fans try to repress the memories of the Habs series, but Anderson definitely played an important part in the series with his physicality. I’d agree he wasn’t THE factor (that belongs to the Danault line completely shutting down Matthews and Marner).
Saying Anderson again wasn’t very good after the leafs series just continues to show you’re out to lunch, he was one of the best Habs players in the Vegas series, and was one of the few who actually played well against Tampa.

If Anderson was "A 3rd line player on MTL", then how is he "shutting down Matthews and Marner"? The Danault line was the line against Matthews and Marner and that was line 1... And there was this guy, his name was Carey Price, he was sorta the best goalie of all time, I tend believe that price was the one shutting down a guy who averaged 5 shots a game then a guy who wasn't even on the ice...

Anderson wasn't... He had 1 goal in 7 games... that's not good... David Kampf had 3 points in 11 games these playoffs... And his job is to play PK and win defensive zone draws...

Anderson had 26 hits in 7 games against the Leafs... For context, Auston Matthews had 38 hits in 11 games these playoffs

Doesn't that show how slow Anderson is? That he's slower than a 36 year old enforcer known for making hits and fights, How do you think he got into that position?
