Protection? That unprotected pick is the only thing of value in this deal. You don’t get elite players like Nylander by giving up garbage. The pick would have to land in the top 5 in order for it to even be in the same conversation to acquire Nylander

I respect the Timmins appreciation I just think he hasn't proven enough so still unknown things and Foote and a couple other available ufas in their early to mid 20s have more nhl experience plus niemela is knocking on the door big time...Vancouver might be a better spot to get more playing time and I put Timmins as their 6 defenseman over there.

He put up more points per game then Lilly did, and I also think there is a defensive upside to Timmins. An interesting deal that I'd be interested to see Put Lilly up instead, and you possibly get a big Lshot Dman

VAN doesn't need wingers, VAN can't trade unprotected firsts, and wingers in general don't get huge value. If it costs an unprotected first you just move on

Hmm ok those are some good points because I want timmins to play I just wasn't sure if i want him to play on the Leafs, I kind of accept liljigren also so I guess maybe they both will get in there next season you're opening my eyes to the fact that Timmins would probably be good as a everyday player and if he proves it all year long then there's no need to be concerned about him...so in this deal you can remove Joshua and timmins and unsign Foote and I that would be the deal I would go with but I really like Joshua too so maybe a different player and I don't think you want to start the season with niemela in the lineup just in case smarter to make sure he is still lighting up the ahl first...

My comment wasn’t so much about needing to have an unprotected 1st, I realize it’s more realistic to have protection on it - but my point was that this is a garbage offer and the only valuable piece in it is the unprotected pick.

Garland has been shopped for well over a year and no one has taken the bait yet. Why would he all of a sudden have enough value to be the main player for Nylander? .. he wouldn’t. There’s just nothing interesting about this idea for Toronto. They’re looking for defensive help IF they move Nylander and Vancouver doesn’t have anyone to fit what they’re looking for.

I don't know if it's defensive help, more a change in the style of the defence. I think Treliving wants some meanness back there. If he trades Nylander for a mean defenceman, I will stop being a fan because that would be utterly horrible.
