if we suck at the deadline

Created by: hairyberry
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 4, 2023
Published: Aug. 4, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just curious to see how much value the Bruins could extract in the best case scenario for their pending UFAs. Obviously not sure which team would pay for each of these players specifically, so don't get caught up on e.g. "Seattle would never do that". It's more just an exercise to see how much the Bruins might get in return if they suck next season.

Canes pass. Carolina do not pay for rentals, especially not B+/A- prospects like Blake.

No chance the Canes do that deal, especially in a trade deadline situation.

Really shocked that you didnt just do the same old boring trade where you send Ullmark to NJ. Congratz on actually being different and not doing the same ole panic trade a goalie to the devils.

Again, I don't know exactly which teams will make these deals but *someone* will. These teams are basically placeholders. I'm just looking to get a rough estimate of the total value the Bs might get back if they need to sell at the deadline.

Most are fine, but Grzelcyk won't get as much especially because of his size. Anyways, I doubt it happens (just like in 2016). It's the centennial season, Sweeney and Neely will keep them all to try to sneak in the wild card and so, the Jacobs stay happy with the playoffs money. Hope I'm wrong, let's see.

Nothing against Grzelcyk, and the deal isn't even that bad, but Seattle has a ton of depth at LD. Even if Seattle has injury issues, that's a position that Seattle has depth to cover, so I don't see them being interested.

I get that. But as they said the canes aren't gonna do that. I understand waht you mean but that's a bit much of a price for a guy like DeBrusk. He is good don't get me wrong he isn't worth a essencially 2 1sts. Why I say 2 is because in this moment Jackson is worth a 16th OVA 1st imo. He is producing at a pace like Fantili. Not saying he will be an equal to Fantili but being at that pace means you have a good future in the NHL. And yes I know that the canes pick from 27-32 but it's still a 1st... And as we've seen late 1sts can become 1st OVA players (aka Pasternak). So I don't belive that DeBrusk is that guy to fetch that price.

The most recent comparible to DeBrusk would be Domi in my opinion and he only went for a 2nd. DeBrusk might be worth a bit more, but nothing close to that.

Debrusk is worth more than Domi, he's a much more rounded player and is more of a goal scorer

I agree he's better, but not that much. Wingers don't carry a lot of value in the league.

Canes won’t pay that for a rental. If Debrusk would sign an acceptable extension, something around that price is fine

To get the top 10 pick back you have to be worse than the Canucks, Blues, Red Wings, Caps, Flyers, Coyotes, Canadiens, Sharks, Blackhawks, Blue Jackets, or Ducks.

The only teams that got any better that were hovering around the bottom 10 is the Sens and Buffalo. I still think the Bruins are better than the Sens. Boston might be battling for a wild card with Buffalo if they do not add a top 6 center, OR one of the prospects pops (Lysell, Merkulov, Poitras)

This team will be competitive.

Let’s be realistic with our prospect evaluations - just take the names away. Canes wouldnt send a decent prospect + 2 picks (including a 1st) for a rental. Blake is good, but it’s not the point.

Don't know if the Bruins will bad enough to be willing to trade all their upcoming UFAs. But IMO, non playoff teams should be looking to sell their upcoming JUFAs

The Detroit deal isn’t necessary because the pick is already to 10 protected

Forget this team and the trade and all of that, can you honestly explain to me how a 4th rounder that barely scored above a PPG in college at 20 years old is an A- prospect? Maybe you score prospects differently but in my mind that a C prospect at best. Just want to see what I’m missing

Sorry I didn't mean he was that guy what I kinda meant with that post was that he's not as bad as some people say he is.
