DET
  1. Rust, Bryan
Additional Details:
Not saying this is the full trade, but Dubas made it a goal to move Hextall’s mistakes. I personally didn’t want Rust resigned, but maybe DET would swap injury prone Fabbri for the hometown kid.

You know what? I don’t hate it for Detroit even though I think they will decline it

Red Wings would make that trade in a second. Fabbri misses a ton of games.

Edit: Rust has 5 years left on his contract. Maybe not.

Nah, they won't trade him. He's still a solid player, could have a rebound year.

Not with Rust's contract. Fabbri is good when he plays, he just tends not to play.

Sounds like a natural born Penguin already.

I think the number 1 rule is: don't trade (especially cap dumps) to Yzerman and Sakic... They will take advantage of it and fleece you

Rust is not a mistake. He might be slightly overpaid, but he is a solid top 6 winger with pk and pp ability. He makes the team better. Fabbri is cheap glass.

Five years of 31 year old Rust doesn't seem like a good idea.

I agree with them. You're blatantly wrong. He's not a cap dump nor a Hextall mistake. Great two way top 6 player.

Actually I think the length of Rust's contract is a bigger obstacle for Detroit. I don't know if Yzerman will take on a 5yr contract that he didn't negotiate.

I agree Rust is a very good 2 way player but at 30yrs old I think his cap hit or term could've been lower.

Yeah the term and NMC wasn't a great contract by Hextall (shocking) but i'm not opposed to keeping rust around.

All is irrelevant for Pittsburgh in 2 years so

I agree Rust is quite a bit more durable and if their contracts were even this would be a very bad move for Pittsburgh. In the end I don't think the extra $1.125M in cap space would be worth losing Rust.
